Embedded Systems and IC Design (ESID)

Our laboratory brings together expertise in embedded systems, image processing, computer vision, and integrated circuit (IC) design to create intelligent solutions for real-world challenges. We specialize in microscopy and plant phenotyping, blood cell and mosquito species classification, and dangerous object detection in X-ray images. Beyond imaging, our research extends to smart devices, smart grids, renewable energy, and energy management systems (EMS), integrating AI and data-driven approaches with weather forecasting to support sustainability and resilient infrastructures. In the area of IC design, we focus on developing high-performance, energy-efficient architectures and mixed-signal systems that complement our embedded platforms. Our work includes sensor interface circuits, low-power signal processing, and hardware accelerators for AI and image processing applications. By combining advanced AI, embedded systems, and circuit design innovation with practical applications in health, agriculture, security, and energy, the lab drives progress at the intersection of technology and societal impact.

Research Highlights

  • Mixed-Signal Integrated Circuit Designs
    Collaborate with the local industry to implement both digital and analog integrated circuits such as microcontroller and RISC-V processor. Various blocks including ALU, TC, USART, TWI, SPI, Reference, Comparators, Oscillators, ADC are engineered from design specifications to silicon layout.
  • Smart Imaging & Computer Vision
    Expertise in image processing, computer vision, and embedded systems, enabling intelligent visual understanding and real-time applications. Our research spans from microscopy imaging and plant phenotyping to mosquito species classification and X-ray object detection for healthcare, agriculture, and security.
  • Artificial Intelligence & Intelligent Systems
    Focused on AI-driven solutions integrated with smart devices and embedded technologies.
    We develop intelligent platforms that transform raw data into actionable insights across multiple domains.
  • Sustainable Energy & Smart Grids
    Research on renewable energy, energy management systems (EMS), and smart grid technologies to support sustainable power generation and consumption. Our work ensures reliability, efficiency, and adaptability of modern energy infrastructures.
  • Data Analytics & Predictive Technologies
    Specializing in AI-powered weather forecasting and predictive modeling.
    This group leverages advanced computation to support decision-making in climate, energy, and environmental resilience.
